Abstract

Different models of a chemical bond allow us to characterize different aspects of molecules and deliver increasingly accurate descriptions of what causes the formation of chemical bonds, what they are made of, and what their strength is. Moving from rigid rotors to harmonic and anharmonic oscillators we set the stage for rough quantum approximations (valence bond model) and finally the accurate quantum model of molecular orbital theory and the theoretical chemical model.
