Abstract
This study aims to evaluate patients' attitudes toward healthcare services in a predominantly Hispanic population at an urban health center serving a significantly disadvantaged population. This center is in one of the poorest areas of the city and has one of the highest diabetes rates in the nation. For over 50 years, Federal health centers have provided care to inner-city, rural, homeless and public housing residents. They provide care to vulnerable populations that would not otherwise be available in medically underserved communities. Central to overcoming disparities is assuring patient satisfaction with their healthcare. This study evaluates patients' satisfaction with the health center in meeting their needs. That satisfaction will influence whether the patient enters and stays in the health care system, thus allowing treatment of their diabetes and/or other chronic conditions. This study evaluates patient satisfaction during 2019, (pre-COVID), 2022 (during COVID), and 2023 (post COVID), and documents their continued satisfaction with their medical providers through all three periods.
